Understanding change

Understanding what we can change and what we cannot change in this world creates a wonderful harmony, because when we cannot do anything about it, then we just have to accept it. This is part of our life, and life is very imperfect and I am imperfect, I’m neither good or bad, I’m just a regular human being. And through this method of acceptance we can take giant steps towards a greater realm of happiness.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
— The Serenity Prayer

Confidence challenge

Why are we always seeking external validation, reassurance, and acceptance?

I think that seeking external validation, reassurance, and acceptance is an intrinsic part of human behaviour. Our social nature is deeply rooted in our evolution and has driven us to seek acceptance within groups and communities as a means of ensuring safety, resources, and support. This quest for validation extends to our self-esteem; positive feedback strengthens our sense of self-worth and belonging, while negative feedback can brings about doubts and insecurities. Additionally, seeking validation often serves as a tool for learning and growth. External feedback provides varied perspectives that aid in personal improvement and development. Cultural influences also play a significant role, as societal norms often encourage seeking validation to conform to social standards and expectations. As well as receiving validation, it also offers emotional security by affirming our beliefs and actions, reducing feelings of anxiety or uncertainty. However, while seeking external validation has its benefits, striking a balance with internal validation is crucial, as relying solely on external sources for self-worth or decision-making can pose challenges to cultivating a healthy sense of self-esteem and personal growth.

Nobody likes rejection

Acceptance is one of the fundamental human needs, and it can influence individuals to pursue various career paths. Although sales may be a popular profession, claiming to "love rejection" during an interview is questionable, as it implies a desire for pain or a mere attempt to sound impressive. In reality, rejection is an inevitable aspect of sales, but successful salespeople are those who are willing to endure it in order to succeed. Not everyone can handle the emotional strain of prospecting and facing rejection regularly, which is why many individuals, including some salespeople, shy away from it.

Calm is a superpower

All the successful people that I have met in my life all seem to be at peace with themselves. No matter what the trials and tribulations they are faced with or are facing they have a level of acceptance, they are mentally prepared, tough, and ready to take on the challenge. As a result, their inner peace gives them a different perspective on the world. If you master the inside world then the outside world will be kinder and more beautiful.

One of the best lessons you can learn in life is to master how to remain calm.

The trick is not to be fooled by illusions of superiority and to learn to accurately reevaluate our competence each day. Think about it? When you are angry or upset you often see the things around you in a negative light, but if you are happy, suddenly, everything around you are bathed in rainbows and sunshine. Dealing with your inner demons is a necessary step towards living a truly fulfilled and successful life.
