A coaching framework

The brain responds well to structure and strategy. A clear framework creates focus, direction, and psychological safety during the coaching process.

B.R.A.N.D is a simple five-step coaching framework developed by Linda Remke that clarifies where we are, where we are going, and how we will work together. It allows me, as your coach, to operate within a consistent methodology while supporting you in moving toward the outcomes you want to achieve through your coaching journey.

· Benchmarking the session: Establishing the purpose, desired outcome, and success criteria for the session.

·. Realities: Exploring the current situation with honesty and clarity.

· Articulate: Helping you articulate insights, challenges, and what truly matters.

· New thinking: Challenging assumptions and opening space for new perspectives and options.

· Do: Translating insight into clear, practical actions and commitments.

This framework provides structure without rigidity, ensuring each session is focused, purposeful, and aligned with meaningful progress.


Storytelling broken down

A strong story follows a clear structure.

It begins with the character.
The hero wants something specific. The first task is to define exactly what your stakeholder wants.

Next comes the problem.
Every engaging story is driven by a problem, because problems create attention. If there is no tension, there is no reason to keep listening.

Once the problem is clear, your role becomes clear.
You do not position yourself as the hero. You position yourself as the guide who understands the problem and has helped others navigate it before.

From there, you build the bridge.
You connect their problem to your solution in a way that feels logical, relevant, and achievable.

Then you challenge them to act.
Do not put people in the mind-reading business. Tell them clearly what you want them to do next.

After that, define what is at stake.
Give your stakeholder a vision of a better future if they take action. Show them what success looks like on the other side.

Finally, address the cost of inaction.
Make clear what happens if nothing changes and the problem remains unsolved.

These are your options

Why would you recommend doing this instead of that?
When we approach this challenge, we  should consider the appropriate framework, methodology, and process. People strive to improve and excel in various areas, including sales acumen, however, what truly sets someone apart is their business argument. I think the key differentiator lies in possessing situational knowledge. It may be referred to as situational awareness or experience, but I prefer to call it situational knowledge because it signifies having encountered similar situations and observed different decisions and outcomes. Therefore, your understanding of the context in which the client operates becomes the basis for providing advice.


Pursuing purpose

Purpose gives you an overriding reason to do and act in certain ways, then using agile practices to respond to changes in the environment, I think you will be able to align quickly to the direction that you set. The commitment to the framework goals that you are trying to pursue, and the purpose driven approach helps you to do that as well. Agile is very people centred, it’s about giving people autonomy so that they can pursue the initiatives that you are trying to put in place. Agile is the ideal approach to execute change because it tends to make more committed employees and give them more of a reason to want to engage and develop the change programmes you are trying to pursue.

How we think and feel about people we don’t particularly know is perhaps the best guide to the workings of the average human imagination. I may be naïve, but I think that if you take care of somebody, they’ll open doors that you could never open yourself. They’ll take you by the hand and share you with people that you never thought you could reach. I believe that when you provide good service for your customers they will recommend you and this will lead to multiple sales.

 

No matter how well we are doing, we can all use another idea! Just a couple of other things that link together with the things we already know could give us a whole new burst of productivity and energy. Sometimes it’s difficult to bring yourself within the framework of activity required to concentrate and focus on doing your best. For an extraordinary lifestyle, we will have to do some tough listening.

 

My simple 3 step sales formula is:
1.    Talk to lots of people every day and you are bound to get better.
2.    Be really nice, a big part of presentation is attitude and personality.
3.    Be of extraordinary service, do all the things most people don’t do.
